STRAIGHT EDGE!

Okay, listen up. I need help with a list I am trying to make. I am trying to list as many straight edge bands (past or present) as I possibly can. I have a pretty sizable list going, and continue to add more and more.

Please look at the list and help me. Tell me bands I forgot, bands that I have that aren't edge, or help me with dates (ie when they formed/broke up). Even if the band you know of isn't on the site, tell me anyways (I can always add them to the site at some point).

Smoke and Mirrors - 2 Song Demo

Good local hardcore, with members from various great old school hardcore bands (Brother's Keeper, Shockwave, etc). They are one of the few modern bands playing with an old school sound. This was a demo they were giving out for free at a show I was at. I have other stuff by them, too, that I'll post someday.

Smoke and Mirrors - 2 Song Demo (2008)

1. Join the Ghost Army
2. My Brother the Serial Killer

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?zud4toczgdn

Crowd Deterrent - Die You Bastards Demo

This is the oldest one of Crowd Deterrent's demos I've ever come across (if anyone has anything before this, please let me know). One of my favorite hardcore bands "working." I wish they'd play shows, and when they do, I wish they'd play more than 2 1/2 songs. I have the Revenge on the Scene demo laying around somewhere, I'll post it at some point.

Crowd Deterrent - Die You Bastards Demo (2003)

1. Unresolved
2. Revenge Is My Middle Name
3. No Time Left
4. X'd Up

Death and a Promise - Down 'N Dirty

I was just going through some of my random demos and eps and shit, and came across this. I tried to see if I could find it online anywhere, but nothing came up so I decided to post it. I got it for free at last year's Summer of Hate, even though it did originally cost money, the band was forced to play before the doors were even open, so in order to get their name out, they gave them out for free.

A Death and a Promise - Down 'N Dirty (2006)

1. When Push Comes to Shove
2. Good Night
3. Ca$ino Queen
4. All I Need
5. In Our Blood
6. Through It All

Langhorne Slim!

One of my favorite artists at the moment, easily. I never heard anyone mention his name even till I came across it online. I blindly checked him out and fell in love. He plays like a modern folk-country that doesn't suck. It feels like there is a punk underlining, too. This is his newer release, but I will make sure to post his other stuff on here, too.

Langhorne Slim - Langhorne Slim (2008)

1. Spinning Compass
2. Rebel Side of Heaven
3. Restless

Mmmm, Inglorious Basterds

Normally I post music, but I felt the need to post the two things on my mind right now. First off, The Simpsons, is, and always will be, my favorite show ever. I have every season set released thus far, and have even went as far as buying those stupid themed one disc money-stealing discs for the simple fact I didn't have two of the episodes on there at the time. (not to mention, I bought a season five bootleg back when only the first three seasons were out.) So you can imagine my excitement everytime a new set is announced, well...

you can guess I came in my pants. The set doesn't even have a date yet, but just the simple fact I can see the cover makes my mouth water. I shake just thinking about bringing home a whole new 20+ hours worth of gold (the episodes, then the episodes with commentary). Go pre-order this on Amazon.
Also, call me what you will, but I love Tarantino. Yes, I know. You wouldn't expect that from a snob who goes around quoting Kurosawa on how much he loves Satyajit Ray, but I do. The trailer for his new films just gets my dick all hard. I cannot fucking wait till this comes out. Casting Mike Myers, is crazy, but obviously will work.
Watch the trailer!

108 - Holyname (rare version?)

A classic hardcore band from the 90s. NYHC. This is their first album. While they are a great band, they definitely don't come across as great on record as they do watching clips of them live. They were in the NYHC documentary, and what they showed of their performance seemed incredible. I would love to see this band live.

Something weird about this release I have of theirs, that I think is rare, because I have never heard of this before, but the whole album is one track and is much, much longer then the actual album is supposed to be. I bought it at CD Warehouse and know nothing about the copy, and could not find anything about it online. Does anyone else know anything about this? There seems to be a lot of Krishna chanting on this, that I'm not sure if it is on the regular release or not. Whatever, this album is worth checking out, but also check out live footage of them.

108 - Holyname (1994)

The normal tracklisting is:
1. Gopinatha
2. Holyname
3. Hopeless?
4. I Defy
5. Thirst
6. Grow
7. 10.8
8. Slave
9. Liar
10. Tulasi's Song

Video of them from the NYHC doc:

xSucker Punchx

Some of my friends old band, xSucker Punchx from Erie. They only put out one release, but it's really good. One of the tracks features another local band, also split up, Stand Firm. Check this out, they are really good.

Swear to God - Demo 2002

Swear to God is a great beatdown hardcore band from New Hampshire. They are one of the hardest, most pissed off hardcore bands working today, and one of my favorites. While I am not a huge fan of their 2005 Demo, which suffers from even worse quality than this, they are still great. I have a physical copy of this, so just comment me if you want a scan of the artwork or something.

Swear to God - Demo (2002)

1. Acceptance or Denial
2. Shut Your Mouth
3. Look At Yourself
4. Live to Regret

The Fucking Beets! - Let It Beet

Ladies and Gentlemen, it's The Beets! The best band ever from the UK. If you don't remember the show Doug, then kill yourself. These are classic recordings by this band. (sorry for the back to back old school Nick show posts)

Polaris - Music From The Adventures of Pete and Pete!!!!!

One of the best 90s shows ever, The Adventures of Pete and Pete, this is the music from the show. This band only had one album, as they were basically a side project band for the show only, but they recorded the excellent theme song, Hey Sandy.

The Modern Lovers - 'Live'

One of the best bands of all-time in my honest opinion. I am obsessed with this band, and anything involving Jonathan Richman (the singer). I am posting this first for a friend of mine; this is in no way the best album Modern Lovers-related. Definitely expect an ass load more of this.

Best Tracks: New England, My Little Kookenhaken, and this long ass version of Ice Cream Man.

Bangarang! - The EP (2005)

Here's a fantastic EP from one of my favorite pop-punk bands ever, they just broke up last year and from what I know, this EP is still quite hard to find. (let's hope a discography is released sometime with some rare shit?) Anyways, the vocals definitely matured more after this album, but there still isn't a weak track here. Definitely look for me posting more by them.

2. Clarrisa Can't Explain Shit

I'm Back!!! Macho Man Randy Savage - Be a Man (2003)

When asked when this album came out, I assumed it must have been mid-to-late 90s, to my surprise this came out in 2003! Regardless, it is a complete classic. Any fan of music must hear this masterpiece for themselves, don't let people tell you about it, it must be experienced. Starting with the intro all the way to the closer I was overjoyed. Download and enjoy this timeless classic.

My New Blog / xRepresentx

Yo, niggas. I have tried time and time again to get a blog going posting music (like the millions of other ones out there), and I think this time I might be lucky. I am going to try and upload any music I want. None of the files will be hosted on this site, however. Make sure to go out and buy anything you hear and like. Support these bands in whatever way possible.

I decided a good first post would be for a local band, xRepresentx. They have been playing since 2003 and have released many eps/demos, also released a full-length on x1981x records, and just had a split with Pledge and The War on Seventh Dagger. Their new record comes out sometime in March, 2009, and is also on Seventh Dagger. They sing very straight forward straight edge hardcore, with often times well thought out lyrics.

xRepresentx - Circulation (2003)

xRepresentx - Kill the Lights (2003)

xRepresentx - True At All Costs (2006)

xRepresentx - The Long Haul Demo (2008)

xRepresentx - Split w/ The War & Pledge (just xRepresentx tracks) (2008)

Hit me up with any xRepresentx albums/songs you may have that I didn't post. I would very much be interested in whatever you got. Look out for their new album "The New Inquisition" on Seventh Dagger.
